Kid Empress: Boundless Music in the Planetarium

7 February 2025

Join us during our 100 Days of Planetarium campaign for a night under the dome with Kid Empress and lose yourself in their boundless music that takes you to another universe.

The members of Kid Empress, Anna Gosteli, Baf Scheipers, Sam Hylton, Joscha Arnold and Severin Rauch, met each other while studying jazz music in Basel. Individually they have participated in various pop, hip-hop, rock and indie projects. They joined up again to combine their musical experiences and creative energy in a new project. They connect music genres that you might think are worlds apart with a playful and maybe even childlike approach. Rock with breakbeat, industrial with pop, and electronics with Scandinavian clarity suddenly connect to a new fitting sound.

Their songs carry homages to different cultures, without a specific musical homeland. The socio-critical themes of their songs enforce diversity - concerning both their music and their appreciation for equality in love - but also leave space for dreaming and amazement. Or, as the members would say: Allow yourself to get immersed in the music and see the world through children's eyes.

The live-performance, on Friday, 21 March, will be accompanied by 360-degree visuals on the dome of the ESO Supernova planetarium by visual artist Dominik Schatz (LICHTGESTALTEN). There are 109 seats available for the concert, scheduled to start at 19:30, and tickets cost 25 Euros each. To book your tickets and learn more about the concert, go to the event webpage.
