IO Presents: Echolab in the planetarium

An audiovisual experience with local artists

11 November 2024

On Saturday, 14 December at 19:30 the ESO Supernova hosts the first edition of the new event series "Echolab" from the Munich-based collective and label "IO". A captivating sensory experience awaits you under the dome of the planetarium.

Visual and sound, two realms that intertwine directly, have fascinated the artists of the Munich-based collective and label "IO" since the beginning of their creative journey. The direct connection of these two sensory spectrums is the focus of the first edition of their new event series, Echolab. Within this event, the artists explore the concept of Echolab as a space where visual and sound are viewed as two interrelated forms of resonance. Like the light of stars and the waves of sound, they carry information through time and space, bridging distances and crossing dimensions. This exploration of audiovisual echoes symbolises an attempt to capture the vibrations of the universe and render their patterns tangible.

Under the dome of the ESO Supernova planetarium Polygonia (Lindsey Wang) and FTP Doctor (Niklas Bühler) engage in a multifaceted dialogue. Influences from ambient, IDM, and experimental soundscapes merge into a web of harmonic and dissonant tones. Leipzig-based new addition to the IO label Vanta (Marvin Hoyer) makes his first appearance as part of the collective, presenting his live set debut. With a hypnotic electronic ambient performance, he immerses the audience in mysterious soundscapes.

The visual component of the event emerges through the creative collaboration between Tenzia (Antony O.) and modern.boredom (Benedict Hempel), a new Munich-based member of the label. Together, they craft an immersive spectacle of generative, AI-dreamt forms and powerful laser effects that fill the dome with surreal, audio-reactive projections. Their visual landscapes unfold in polarised, oscillating structures that break boundaries and engage in a vibrant dialogue with the music.

Tickets for the event cost 20 Euro per person and can be bought online now.
