10 January 2025
On Friday 14 February, as part of our "100 Days Planetarium" programme, the ESO Supernova will remain open until 20:00. Treat your loved one to a romantic evening under the dome of the planetarium and enjoy a special show combining art, science and fantasy.
The one-hour-long fulldome show features a selection of entertaining short movies, brimming with creativity and cosmic wonder. Zoom out from the ESO Supernova to the edge of the known Universe. Be inspired by award-winning astrophotography. Find out what grand mysteries a cosmic traveller has uncovered while journeying deep into intergalactic space. Explore relationships between light, sound and space. Marvel at beautiful timelapse photography capturing the majesty of Earth’s natural environments. The show begins at 18:30. Tickets cost 6,50 Euro per person and can be purchased online now.
Or, why not visit exhibitions in the ESO Supernova. In addition to the permanent exhibition The Living Universe, a special temporary exhibition The Stars were just the Beginning can be found on the ground floor. With information about the invention of the first planetarium projectors, the diverse history of the planetarium, and its contemporary role in society, the exhibition provides visitors with an interesting overview of the development of planetariums and humankind's fascination with the Universe. Both exhibitions are free of charge to visit and accessible until 20:00 on Friday 14 February.
