Travel to a comet with Rosetta and Philae at the ESO Supernova
Special planetarium show takes you on an adventure with the famous space probe and her lander
8 May 2019
On Sunday 30 June the ESO Supernova will celebrate international Asteroid Day. On this day, we are delighted to introduce the latest planetarium show in our programme: The Amazing Adventures of Rosetta and Philae. The famous space probe Rosetta and her lander Philae will tell the story of their decade-long mission to the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The audience will travel with them through the Solar System, encountering asteroids and neighbouring planets, and learning how missions like Rosetta can teach us more about objects in space.
Launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2004, Rosetta and Philae were designed to study a comet by getting closer than ever before. They accomplished this mission when, in 2014, Philae landed on Chury, sending home the first images ever taken from the surface of a comet. Now, in this adaptation of ESA’s popular cartoons about the distinguished explorers, viewers have the opportunity to experience that journey with them inside the dome of the ESO Supernova planetarium.
The 14-metre wide planetarium, with its state-of-the-art projection technology, will ensure an immersive experience with the intrepid explorers, and an unforgettable journey of discovery for adults and children alike.
To reserve a place to see The Amazing Adventures of Rosetta and Philae please book online. The ticket price is 5 euros and places are limited to 109 seats per showing.
