The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is a European research organisation that operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world: the Large Hardron Collider (LHC). The LHC lies in a tunnel 27 kilometres in circumference beneath the France–Switzerland border near Geneva.
