Dramatic moonset

The full Moon sets on the horizon of the Chajnantor plateau, directly behind the APEX telescope. In order to obtain this effect, the picture was taken with a powerful zoom lens, from a few kilometres away. APEX is a 12-metre diameter telescope used to observe the Universe in millimetre- and submillimetre-wavelength radiation.
