ESO — Reaching New Heights in Astronomy
ESO Education Newsletter
10 September 2021

Dear educators and others interested in the educational programme of ESO Supernova!

Since August 25, the 3G rules have also been implemented at the ESO Supernova. Because all visitors of ESO Supernova are now either vaccinated, recovered, or tested negative, we can welcome larger groups in the exhibition and planetarium again. All current COVID-19 measures can be seen on the ESO Supernova website here. The COVID-19 pandemic is still very dynamic, so that we publish our planetarium shows only a few weeks in advance. If you would like to visit a planetarium show with your kindergarten group or school class, but no show is listed in the online calendar for your preferred date, please send an email to: education@eso.org. In most cases, we can schedule a show for educational institutions during the week on Wednesday through Friday at 10:30 am or 3:30 pm.

Please note that the application deadline for the job posting to make the ESO Supernova education program even more attractive has been extended to Sunday, September 19, 2021. We’re looking for an Education Specialist with experience in the area of Kindergarten and/or primary school education. The position has been created thanks to a collaboration with Forscherstation Heidelberg and the person will be responsible for expanding the education offer at the ESO Supernova, both for children aged 3-12 years and their educators. The full job description can be found here: https://supernova.eso.org/education/forscherstation/news/

We would be very pleased if you could support us in spreading the news about the job posting (newsletter, notice board, social media, personal contacts) or if you would apply if you’re qualified. If you have any questions about the job posting, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you in advance for your help.

We wish you a good start into the new school year and would be happy to welcome you at ESO Supernova.

Wolfgang Vieser (Education Coordinator)
