Dear education professionals and those interested in the educational programme of ESO Supernova!

We hope you had a good start to the new school year and wish you lots of fun and success in your extremely important role as educator or teacher.

In the school year 2024/25, we are again offering you free visits to planetarium shows, guided tours of the exhibition and ESO Headquarters, and workshops. Please use our website for educational institutions (https://supernova.eso.org/education/) to prepare and request a visit with us. This way we can guarantee that you can take advantage of all the offers free of charge. Our schedule currently runs until December 22, 2024, our last day open this calendar year. In 2025, we will be there for you again from January 4. We will release the program from January 2025 in the course of November.

In addition to our normal program, we will also be presenting a few special events over the next three months. Please save these dates:

October 3, 2024: Open House Day: Behind the Scenes at ESO (10:00 - 17:00)

October 19, 2024: Long Night of Astronomy - the ESO Supernova will also take part in this nation wide event. More details from October 3 on our website.

October 21 & 22, 2024: Teacher Training “DigiTagung 2024” of the Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft e.V. at the ESO Supernova for teachers of all secondary schools in Bavaria. October 22, 2024: Webcast for Primary School Teacher organised by Forscherstation. More details and registration via this link: https://anmeldungen.forscherstation.info/index.php?module=010700&event=163

October 30, 2024: Online training on “Dark Matter” together with CERN and OzGrav in Australia. This training will take place from 10:30 - 12:00 and 14:30 - 16:00. More details soon on our website.

In the coming months there will also be a monthly “Cosmic Cinema” in the ESO Supernova Planetarium in collaboration with the Origins Cluster. At 19:00 there will be a talk on current research topics. The dates are October 10, November 14 and December 12.

We would be delighted if you would visit the ESO Supernova with your kindergarten group or school class. The educational program is still free of charge.
