Dear educators and others interested in the educational programme of ESO Supernova!
The final weeks of 2023 have just begun with some special programme highlights at ESO Supernova.
Since November, we've been showing the new planetarium show Little Major Tom: Into the Unknown. The story is the perfect combination of great storytelling and fascinating information about a possible future for humans in space and is based on the characters from the children's book series "Little Major Tom". But it also looks at Earth and describes the possible consequences of climate change. This show is suitable for children from primary school age.
For the youngest planetarium visitors (from the age of 4), we have scheduled kindergarten shows on the following dates (in German only):
Friday, 17 November at 11:00 a.m.: Captain Schnuppes Weltraumreise
Friday, 24 November at 9:30 am: Der Himmel über uns
Friday, 8 December at 9:30 am: Der Himmel über uns
Friday, 15 December at 9:30 am: Captain Schnuppes Weltraumreise
Bookings free of charge for school classes and kindergarten groups can only be requested via our website: For Edu Institutions. Of course, you can also use this website to request free bookings for other planetarium shows for your kindergarten group or school class. On this page you will also find information on how to ask for other parts of the educational programme.
You can find new inspiration for teaching in the latest issue of "Science in School", which you can read online free of charge. This European journal for science teachers offers up-to-date information on cutting-edge science, teaching materials, science education projects, interviews with inspiring scientists and teachers, reviews of books, and many other useful resources for science teachers. Science in School is published by EIROforum, a collaboration between eight European intergovernmental scientific research organisations, of which ESO is a member.
We would be delighted if you would come along to ESO Supernova with your kindergarten group or school class. The educational programme is still free of charge.
