ESO — Reaching New Heights in Astronomy
ESO Education Newsletter
24 November 2025

Dear educators and teachers,

I’m Urša Benedičič, your Education Specialist working with kindergarten and primary school groups at ESO Supernova. It’s a pleasure to welcome you and your young explorers to our science centre, and I’m delighted to share some exciting updates and resources to support and inspire your teaching!

We’ve recently updated our booking system for all kindergarten and school groups and I’m happy to announce that you can now plan your visits for the year 2026 through the end of July. As spaces fill up quickly, I encourage you to reserve your preferred dates as early as possible: For teachers — ESO Supernova

In my role, I have the pleasure of also working for our education partner from Heidelberg, Forscherstation, who offer a wealth of free online resources packed with creative ideas for exploring science from kindergarten through to the end of primary school. You can download these materials directly from their website: Forscherstation Praxis-Material. Additionally, I lend out hands-on materials for some of their activities at the ESO Supernova—browse our Material Library and book a pickup date that suits you best: Forscherstation Material Library (Garching). If you’d like to discuss how to best integrate these resources or dive deeper into a specific topic, I’m happy to offer personal consultations. You can book a session with me here: Consultation Booking

I would also like to warmly invite you to join one of our free teacher training programmes, designed to spark new ideas and enrich your teaching practice. Secure your place for the next session now: Future — ESO Supernova

And I’ve saved the best for last: with the festive season approaching, Forscherstation is preparing an exciting Advent calendar filled with ready-to-use activities: Adventskalender 2025 | Forscherstation. If you try out any of the ideas, I’d love to hear how they worked in your classroom—feel free to share your experiences with me!

I look forward to supporting you and your students on your journey through the wonders of science and astronomy. If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Warm regards,
Urša Benedičič
