ESO — Reaching New Heights in Astronomy
ESO Supernova Public Newsletter
2 October 2024

Dear readers of the ESO Supernova newsletter,

If you take a look at the sky from Garching, clouds often obscure the view or the sky is actually far too bright to see our Milky Way and the billions of stars around us with the naked eye, due to the many lights of Munich. If you want to see more, you have to use a telescope. And that's exactly what is possible on 19 October during the Long Night of Astronomy in the ESO Supernova. If the weather is nice, we will set up our telescopes on the roof terrace and show you what you can discover in the starry sky. At the same time, you can also explore the large exhibition and, for example, ask astronomers or engineers some questions about the Universe.

But that's not all that the first Long Night of Astronomy has to offer. We have planned various talks and shows in our Planetarium and will also stream a nationwide live stream that was organised in cooperation with other planetariums, observatories and institutions.

Please check our website for the details and book your free tickets for the planetarium.
