ESO — Reaching New Heights in Astronomy
ESO Supernova Public Newsletter
11 July 2024

Dear Visitors and Supporters,

Summer is here and we are very happy to bring you some additions to our planetarium programme. Two shows are available now for booking, to be enjoyed from 1 August. “Solar Superstorms” takes viewers into the tangle of magnetic fields and superhot plasma that vent the Sun's rage in dramatic flares, violent solar tornadoes, and the largest eruptions in the solar system, coronal mass ejections. “Dynamic Earth” explores the inner workings of Earth’s great life support system: the global climate. Both feature fantastic scientific visualisations from advanced supercomputer simulations.

And, don't forget! Our series Kosmisches Kino continues this evening with a talk, in English, about astrochemistry. The next event in this series will take place on Thursday, 12 September and full details will be published at the beginning of August.

Many thanks for your continued support and interest!

Tania Johnston, Head of ESO Supernova
