ESO — Reaching New Heights in Astronomy
ESO Supernova Public Newsletter
27 October 2023

Dear visitors and supporters,

As we come into the final months of 2023, after an exciting year at ESO Supernova, we have a few more activities for you to look forward to.

From 1. November we are delighted to have a new show from our partners Softmachine to offer you and your children. Little Major Tom: Into the Unknown brings the beloved characters of Tom and Stella to immersive domes in an exciting tale set in the year 2053. Teenage friends Tom and Stella live, laugh and train on a space station, honing their astronaut skills as they float above Earth. The show is perfect for children aged 8 years and up.

During the first week in November, we are participating in a research study organised by the Leibniz Centre of Excellence for Museum Education. The study aims to find out more about not only visitors of the ESO Supernova, but also how our visitors compare with visitors to other museums and science centres around Germany. If you plan to visit us during this week, we would be very grateful if you would take the time to complete the survey, which should take around 20 minutes. Please approach our team in the picnic area to participate in the study. You can find out more about this in this announcement.

Before the year finishes, we are very happy to host tonelabs again in the planetarium, on Saturday 9 December. Find out more about this concert and buy your tickets at the event webpage.

And, don’t forget that the ESO Calendar 2024 is available for purchase. As always it contains a range of impressive images, both of astronomical objects and ESO’s amazing facilities. Buy your copy, as well as a range of other astronomy products, either at the online ESOShop or on-site in the ESO Supernova.

Many thanks for your continued support!

Tania Johnston, Head of ESO Supernova
