Dear visitors and supporters!
Do you already have plans for the weekend? If not, we have some suggestions for you here at the ESO Supernova.
On Saturday evening, maybe you would like to enjoy some music in the planetarium. ESO Music Ambassador Stan Dart will perform “Stellar Night” twice. A musical performance combining chillout and dance music styles with a journey through the Universe. Enjoy stunning visuals on the planetarium dome accompanied by Stan Dart’s ambient sounds.
On Sunday, we have the first showing of our latest addition to the planetarium shows: Out There. The film explores the topic of whether we are alone in this vast Universe, and how astronomers have already found more than 4000 planets orbiting other stars in our galaxy. Aliens and other planets have inspired science fiction for many years and sometimes this science fiction becomes real science. This show was produced by The Swiss Museum of Transport Planetarium in cooperation with NCCR PlanetS and the European Southern Observatory (ESO) and is a great show for all the family to enjoy.
Still showing and very much worth watching at the ESO Supernova is the planetarium show “The Amazing Adventures of Rosetta and Philae”. This show is great for our younger visitors (from 5 years old) but also interesting for adults, explaining the history of the ESA Rosetta mission. At the moment, if you show your ticket from this film at our reception, you can take home your very own cardboard model of Rosetta to build at home.
Since opening, we have welcomed more than 110000 visitors to the ESO Supernova and before 2019 ends, we have a few more interesting events planned in our planetarium, so keep an eye out for the newsletters.
Thank you for your continued support and interest!
