ESO Supernova Public Newsletter
11 January 2019

Dear visitors and supporters,

A happy New Year to all of you! After a relaxing Christmas break the doors of the ESO Supernova are open again and we are looking forward to an exciting 2019!

Although there is now a charge of €5/person for planetarium shows and €8/person for tours we are already overwhelmed by bookings for the first quarter and the whole team would like to thank you for your continued support and interest.

While we have started to charge for shows and tours, we would like to highlight that the entrance to the visitor centre and as such to the whole permanent exhibition is still completely free of charge. Also our educational programme for kindergarten and schools remain free of charge.

From today onwards you can also get the whole content of our exhibition online . The ESO Supernova has always been called an open-source planetarium. As such we have gathered all text, images and videos we have used in the exhibition and also the planetarium in our archive and are making them available to the public for free. You can also find interactive apps, educational games, virtual reality movies and much more in our archives. This is in addition to the material already available in the archives of ESO and of our partners from ESA/Hubble. You can use the material for yourself, to assist your teaching and also for any science centre you are working in.

We hope you enjoy the material as much as we loved putting it together.

Mathias Jäger
ESO Supernova exhibition coordinator
