ESO — Reaching New Heights in Astronomy
ESO Supernova Public Newsletter
14 March 2025

Dear visitors and supporters,

Spring is nearly upon us, and, sadly that does mean the nights are getting shorter. However, there are still plenty of interesting astronomical highlights to be seen and we have a variety of activities on offer during April in the ESO Supernova.

On Friday, 4 April, we continue our after work series, and you can visit us until 20:00. Don’t miss the chance to watch “Space Opera” in the planetarium. This is a musical show offering a mixture of science, philosophy and art. The show is in English, but there are a limited number of translation headsets available such that the narration can be heard in German.

On Thursday, 10 April, the Kosmisches Kino programme continues with a presentation from Stefan Gillessen about black holes. Always an exciting topic! Read more about the event in our press release.

And, for those of you with young children in your life, looking for something to do during the Easter school holidays, we are happy to be offering an interactive family workshop on constellations. Read all about this workshop in the press release. The workshop is designed for adults to enjoy together with the children in their life, be that grandparents with their grandchildren, aunts or uncles with their niece or nephew, or guardians with their own children. The workshop is a wonderful way for you to learn about astronomy together with your child.

And finally, if you haven’t yet booked your tickets for the Kid Empress concert taking place on Friday 21 March, be quick about it! There are only a few tickets left. Book here.

We look forward to welcoming you at the ESO Supernova.

Best wishes
Tania Johnston
Head of ESO Supernova
