Dear visitors and supporters,
Our 100 Days of Planetarium programme is in full swing. Have you had the chance to visit our temporary exhibition “The stars were only the beginning” yet? Tonight we have our first “After work” at ESO Supernova and we’re open until 20:00. There are still some tickets left for the planetarium shows on offer this evening.
For March, we have more exciting events lined up for you.
During the local school holidays, we are offering some drop-in constellation crafting activities for our youngest stargazers. Find out more about these in our news post here.
On Thursday, 6 March, our intern Hagen Wagner will give a special talk with fulldome visualisations to mark the end of his time at the ESO Supernova. He will take you on a journey into space to investigate the Overview Effect that astronauts experience when they see the Earth.
On Friday 7 March, we have our second “After work” evening, with a showing of “Mayan Archaeoastronomy” at 17:00 and, at 18:30, a showing of “Planets 360 – Modern Edition”, which is an exciting music show, bringing together electronic music and artistic visualisations.
Kosmisches Kino continues on Thursday 13 March, with a talk from ESO astronomer Amelia Bayo, who will journey above and below the coastal horizon, introducing you to some beautiful beasts.
On Friday 21 March we are thrilled to welcome local band Kid Empress to play under our dome. Experience rock with breakbeat, industrial with pop and electronics with Scandinavian clarity.
All of this in addition to our standard programme full of diverse planetarium shows!
We look forward to welcoming you at the ESO Supernova.
Best wishes
Tania Johnston
Head of ESO Supernova
